How To Share Data With Clients As Your Agency Scales

Agency account managers practically live inside reporting features, coming out only for bathroom breaks and the occasional lunch run. So when a manager carves out their most special, favorite reporting dashboard, it’s like getting to put on your go-to outfit every day. It’s always comfortable, you know how it fits, and it works effortlessly in a variety of situations.

But when it comes time to set that same dashboard up for multiple clients, the mindless, manual time spent clicking, dragging, and saving can be infuriating. In a busy world like the one us digital marketers live in, no one ever wants to feel like they’re reinventing the wheel multiple times per day or starting at square one when they could do steps 1-23 in their sleep.

Duplicating your favorite reporting dashboard for multiple clients has many benefits, and it only starts with the hours of time you’ll save.

One Master Template For All Accounts

Your favorite report should serve as the holy grail across the rest of your accounts (and possibly other accounts outside of your jurisdiction if the report is truly that great…). An easily duplicated report ensures you have one template that applies to all your accounts and can be adjusted to meet any specific requirements.

Always Be Familiar With The Data

Never again will you be stuck in a meeting faced with the impossible task of deciphering a metric you’ve never seen before. By duplicating what you already know, you ensure that even if you haven’t memorized that exact number, you can still walk clients through the context with confidence.

Build Custom Reports For Various Access Levels

With great power comes great responsibility, and that certainly applies to who gets to see what numbers. The CEO of the business whose advertising you’re managing will want to see every number in detail, but the social media manager will really only need to see a slice of that pie. By duplicating the master report, you can easily remove the numbers that aren’t relevant (or authorized) for specific people.

Never Lose Your Best Work

It took you a long time to get your report to where it is today. With experience, you determined the most important metrics, the numbers no one ever looked at, and the views that best explain the data. A saved template report ensures that you’ll never forget certain metrics and you’ll always have a place to reference your best work.

Focus On Strategy, Not Button Clicking

Instead of spending time getting your report in order for every new campaign or client, not you can start several steps ahead and have the data right in front of you. From there, you can quickly spot trends, determine insights, and make strategic recommendations.

Save Lots Of Time

This one is a given, but because the benefit is so big, it deserves its own mention. Imagine creating the exact client report you need in just a few clicks. That’s exactly what you get with an easy-to-duplicate dashboard and/or report for clients.

How To Easily Duplicate A Dashboard Or Report In AdStage

In AdStage, we use Account Groups to organize similar ad accounts, or ad accounts for a single client. In order to create a single-client Report dashboard, the best practice is to create an Account Group for this client, then select the Account Group as your Dashboard Default Data Source in the dashboard setup modal. Click here for the step-by-step video walkthrough.

Step 1: Create a new dashboard.

Step 2: Give it a name, and set a default date range. New widgets will automatically use the date set at the dashboard level.

Set a default data source. This is where you can select an account group. Having account groups allows for easy duplication of this dashboard for individual clients.

If account groups have not been created, you can still select each account you’d like to display.

Step 3: Add a logo, and hit 'save' to enter your dashboard. The logo will appear when this dashboard is shared as a pdf, web view, or live view.

Step 4: Open a widget. Widgets will automatically use the dashboard default data source and date range.

Default data source and date range can be modified at any time by editing dashboard settings, and widgets will refresh to reflect the changes.

Finally, you can also share your report with your client and schedule it to send at a certain cadence. Your company name will even be visible in the URL if you share a live or web view!

Step 5: Once your dashboard is perfected, duplicate it for each individual client.
